Privacy Policy

Effective September 5, 2026.

MileGravy is a mileage and earnings app for one person's own records. There are no accounts, no ads, and nothing about you is sold or shared with data brokers. This page describes exactly what leaves your phone and nothing more.

What stays on your phone

Your data is stored on your device. That includes your trips and the routes behind them, your logged earnings per platform, your expenses and receipts, your tax set-aside percentage, your vehicles, your work schedule, your home location, your profile name and photo, and the place names attached to your trips.

None of this is uploaded to a MileGravy server, because there is no MileGravy server.

What leaves your phone

1. iCloud backup — to your iCloud, not mine

When you back up, MileGravy writes a copy of your app data to your own iCloud account, through Apple's storage on your device. When you restore, it reads that copy back. This is what lets you delete the app, or move to a new iPhone, and get your trips back.

The backup sits in your Apple account under your Apple ID. I cannot read it, and I have no way to access it. It is governed by Apple's privacy terms, not mine.

2. Maps and place names — Apple

The Map screen loads Apple MapKit JS from Apple's servers, and MileGravy asks Apple to turn trip coordinates into a place name, so a stop reads as a street or business rather than a pair of numbers. Doing that means those coordinates are sent to Apple. The resulting place name is then stored on your device with the trip.

Apple receives coordinates for this purpose. It does not receive your earnings, your expenses, your receipts, or anything else in the app. The map is never required — if it cannot load, recording, mileage and backups carry on exactly as before.

3. Anonymous product analytics — TelemetryDeck

MileGravy sends a small number of anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, so I can tell whether a feature is working and being used. This is the only analytics service in the app.

The complete list of signals is: app launched, onboarding completed, trip started, trip stopped, day settled, receipt captured, export created, backup completed, backup failed, restore completed, tax percentage changed, paywall shown, and purchase made.

Alongside a signal, MileGravy may send: the gig platform name attached to a trip (for example "DoorDash"), the export format (CSV or PDF), whether a receipt was scanned or typed in, a coarse bucket for your tax set-aside percentage, a reason category when a backup fails, and the subscription plan on a purchase. It also sends the app version, build number, platform, and OS version.

Your identity in that data is a random identifier generated once on your device and then hashed — it is not your email, your name, your device serial, or anything derived from your own data.

What is never sent: no trip data, no mileage figures, no dollar amounts, no coordinates, no addresses, no place names, no photos, and no receipt text.

4. Purchases — Apple

The subscription is sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple handles the payment and the billing relationship. I never see your card details, and MileGravy does not store payment information.

Location

MileGravy uses your device's location to record the trip you asked it to record, and — if you turn that option on — to notice when you have left home so recording can begin on its own. Location is used for your mileage log and, as described above, for asking Apple for a place name. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and it is not sent anywhere else.

This website

milegravy.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts. The calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. If you enter your email in the launch-list form, that email is submitted to the email provider that runs the list, and is used for one thing: telling you when MileGravy is available. You can unsubscribe from any message.

Children

MileGravy is meant for working adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and the change will be described here.
